This is the biggest cake I have ever made. Each layer is white cake with a different flavor filling-lemon, chocolate, strawberry, and raspberry sour cream. I also made a sheet cake that was chocolate cake with Oreo filling. I was a little nervous about how the cake would hold up outdoors in the Vegas heat, but heard all was well. This year she has been the librarian at Beatty ES, but now she is official. She told me what some of her favorite books are, so I dried fondant squares and painted her favorite characters with food dye. Here they are - Fancy Nancy, Splat the Cat, Skippyjon Jones, Duck, Gerald, and Piggie.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSFeEfkMwQ_iUbmWHKffdmeme3wBWLbQ0_FrRkWcoZi9SBbQQT8MAn05-Gc7MRnLi5KmdD2PyXB5APvDZ1G2kiNsPlUKncjTtz1ynR-4y6aAV5LPyna3di6j6bKLFE5ObIyE4PJy1T2pI/s400/Book+Characters.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5611449105778203058" />
I put the squares around the cake with Ms. Robertson sitting on the little couch in her library reading a book.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRIrgEyMUwTnu75sU36RmlZ_9EtBg74CvMEEciTtt2xshcFg5jaRO8Hw1nOkdKinc43wIBZCPzBs1y_7D6WI2y4cmcgzCSse0tegOqemS29Y7iCKNfmYDLSGpaIpWbCltDEC7BK4VLklI/s400/Librarian+Cake.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5611449100328349554" />
It was a chocolate cake with Oreo filling.Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13214372968310681035noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8273163628206010020.post-15373520533716539562011-05-27T10:23:00.001-07:002011-05-28T11:28:47.148-07:00Hot Pink Minnie Mouse Cake<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgX1HqHBdqeJta21RpUyIpbRIBTUD63RlM94WEj2Op1q4RUynQDJv2LVQQcslHqYtAhpICJTLRJarfDHRnuX3KUHxNKK7PNTpARAylZJhR8R0Bk1434z7w0Z6DQabZD5bPwa60j115zBE/s400/Hot+Pink+Minnie+Mouse+Cake.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5611448312818604274" />
This is another version of the Minnie Mouse Cake that I made for a client. They will be giving tours at a historical site in Utah called Cove Fort. On Friday we threw a party for them. I made this marble cake with chocolate buttercream.
